Our clients frequently ask “how do I get my driver’s license?” In the state of Colorado, we have the Colorado Senate Bill 251 (CO-RCSA SB251) the Colorado Road and Community Safety Act. This bill applies to temporarily legal and undocumented residents as defined in Section 42-2-503 (3). For years, this program has been tremendously helpful for our clients to get driver’s licenses. It became such a popular program that appointments were not available for many months at a time.

Recently, the DMV has worked to open more offices to decrease this congestion. As of 2020, the program is now supported by 7 new offices, for a total of 11 throughout the state. As of January 1st, 2020, the appointments can be made in Glenwood Springs, Lamar, Montrose, Pueblo, and Durango. Further, as of July 1st, 2020, appointments can also be made in Alamosa and Sterling. Appointments can be made directly at My DMV Colorado or by calling.
